The United Reformed Church (URC), Newport Pagnell, is now fund-raising to carry out ambitious plans to rebuild its Church Hall, to be known as the Mead Centre. Located next to the church and accessed via the High Street, the Mead Centre is positioned in the heart of Newport Pagnell.
There is a need in our town for a centrally located, modern, multi-purpose, accessible and flexible community facility. It is our aim that the new centre would be available for families, youth organisations, charities, voluntary groups, and commercial businesses. We want the new building to be a hub of activity for the community, in the town centre.

The following summarises the earler story of the development of the Mead Centre ProjectThe start of consultation
At the United Reformed Church we want to redevelop the existing hall and create a flexible, multi-purpose space available for use by the local community and for outreach by the Church as part of our mission: ‘At the centre of the town, at the heart of the community'.
Currently the hall can only be used by one group or event at a time; our vision is to create a space that consists of a large hall (the same size as we have already) and some additional smaller meeting rooms, hopefully including a Sensory Room, that can be used by many people and can support local activities and groups.
We are therefore asking if there are groups or organizations that may be interested in using a space (large or small) on a regular, occasional or permanent basis in the future. If you know of any, please let us know.
Our aim is that the project will be completed within a three-year timescale and so an expression of interest will not be binding, but it will greatly help us to plan more effectively.
Progress so far, August 2014
Church meeting has agreed, following a Pre Planning application that was mostly favourable, to seek user requirements and create a clear design for a double height, flexible, community space to replace the current hall, with a view to applying for Planning Permission, with Church Meeting's agreement, later on in the year.
Alongside that the team is seeking funding sources and encouragement for local effors of fundraising can now go ahead and start work on all there is to do to raise the necessary funds!
Would you like to help?
Anyone willing to join in this work is most welcomed as we want this space to be a hub for the local community and an asset to the town.
