 Notes for using Zoom

Joining a meeting, using Zoom software

The easiest way to join in is to use a tablet, a smartphone, or a laptop with a built-in webcam. For the first two devices there's an app which you can down load from the App Store (for Apple products) or the Play Store (for Android devices), called ZOOM Cloud Meetings. Once you've opened the app, you'll need to type in the meeting code. Laptop users will have a website address to put into their browser. The meeting code is contained within the web address, so you don't have to enter it separately. People with a computer but without a webcam can join in—they will be heard but not seen by the others.

When you join the meeting, please use computer aueio and leave both your microphone and camera (referred to a "video") on, so that you can be both heard and seen. However, it's helpful during the meeting to mute the microphone unless and until you want to speak, since if more than one person speaks at a time, we cannot hear either of them clearly. You "mute" yourself by clicking on/touching the microphone symbol (ususally at the bottom left of your screen). Normal Zoom meeting etiquette is that a person wishing to speak raises their hand to near their face, so that the chair can see and invite them to contribute.  Anyone attending the meeting in sound only should unmute their microphone if they wish to speak, since this gives a signal to the Chair.

If you have any queries prior to the meeting, please get in touch with the Secretary  chris.row@talktalk.net
